Hello, I received my first small box this Sunday. I know that I was told what I was picking up while I was there. If I can’t remember what type of produce we received in our box, how can I identify it?
What is in your bag/box from week to week should get cleared up by the letters – it is hard to get all the info into the first letter, as there is a lot of ground to cover. Another thing that happens is when I write the letter, ther may be one thing available, but by the end of the week, that item may be gone and another option is available. This week I though there would be loads of spinach, but it tuns out by the end of the week folks got Swiss chard instead, and that was not noted in the little side-bar of the letter
So, if you are confused this week, there are different types of beets and different types of Swiss chard – hope that helps. There’s some pictures on this blog too…just search for beets or swiss chard.
I had a similar issue. I couldn’t tell the difference between swiss chard and kale! Do a Google Image search. We found out that our kale was the plant that looks wet and floppy and had small veins.
Thank you! I posed on FB because I couldn’t find my comment after I left it. I thought I would share a recipe I just found that includes beets and swiss chard, and beet greens.

Just picked up our first box on Sunday and am looking forward to the rest of the season!
Not sure how this works, but we’re not able to pick up our box on Sunday. We live in Brighton if there’s anyone nearby that can help out.
Hey, we can pick it up for you. We also live in Brighton so we are close. When can you pick it up? Later that night or Monday?
Ev and Vanessa
That’s great E&V, thank you! We’ll be leaving an event in West Roxbury around 5 on Sunday, so we could pick it up on our way home if that works. My email is emailalexsmith@gmail.com and we can exchange information.
I’m a member of both the vegetable and meat CSA – love it! Here is a recipe with both the kale and farm fresh chorizo! Some smoky, spicy soup perfect for this “warm” weather we have been experiencing!!

Farmingo? I know that we can now do something with this, but I have to sign in and don’t have an account and can’t figure out where to get one. Anyone try this?
dude, follow the link in the last email you received…the one reminding you to pick up. use your email and request a new password if you don’t rememerb the one you created at signup.
Dudette,
You should know, I didn’t do the sign up, The Dude did. Therefore, I have no password and the link wouldn’t let me create a new one. The Dude has no recollection of creating a password, therefore, once again, leaving it in the hands of the Dudette. Any suggestions?
Hello! We are signed up for the Brookline pick-up on Sundays and looking for someone to pick up our box on Sunday, July 10th. We’ll be flying back from vacation that day and could pick it up from you at night after 9:30 pm or on Monday. Let us know if anyone can help us out — thank you!
MKK – we’re in Brighton and can pick up your Sunday CSA in Brookline for you.
That would be great Alex!! My email address is meghaks@gmail.com — let’s coordinate!

Hello! Hoping someone could pick up our Brookline box on July 4th? We live in Somerville and Allston and can pick it up on Tuesday.
We’ll be in Western MA for the weekend. We’d be glad to pick up your box sometime as karma!
I’m in Brookline – I’d be happy to pick up for you. Let me know! cgunadi@gmail.com
Annette – I tried to pick yours up today, but your name wasn’t on the list. Is it under someone else’s name? Sorry it didn’t work out this time!
Oy, sorry to you both. Larry realized afterwards it would have been just fine to forfeit the box to Cynthia. Annette, please try to get something at one of our other pickups this week or at a market. Let me know what you think and when. It is tricky to keep track of all the names, but this is a good reminder to make sure your picker-upper has the correct name on the account.
best,
G
Thank you for trying to help. Even though it didn’t work out, we appreciate it very much. Let us know if you ever need help too.
I happen to stop by the Copley market every Tuesday and Friday after noon. It’s so perfect for my lunch break.
Also, this is somewhat off-topic, but if Stillman’s ever wanted a forum area for members to communicate (or any webwork), I’m a web develop at http://us.isobar.com Just a side perk
Hey there!
Looks like I will likely miss my csa pickup this sunday. I live in brookline and can likely pick it up from where ever later on sunday afternoon/evening. Anyone mind grabbing my bag? I’d be happy to repay with a pickup on another week!
Hi Maya, I could pick yours up as well while I’m at it! My email is above, let me know.

I was gone over the weekend and therefore had a profound quantity of kale in the fridge when the Tuesday pick-up was all said and done. So I made Kale Pesto! Try it out and share.
Kale Pesto
Ingredients:
• 1/2 – 3/4 cup nuts (I used pistachio and it worked great)
• 2 cups firmly-packed fresh kale
• 3 cloves garlic
• 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
• 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
• Approx 1/3 cup olive oil
De-stem and chop the kale (stemming is not strictly necessary but it makes chewing it much easier). Blanch the kale in boiling water for 2 minutes (previous parenthetical statement applies here, too). Drain and rinse in cool water. Squeeze the excess water out. Place in food processor and pulse until the kale is well pulverized. Add the remaining ingredients. Pulse until all is mixed delightfully together. Enjoy on crackers or on a spoon.
Hello,
was wondering if anyone might be available to pick up my csa box this week? I
What are you doing up at 4:45am!?
Anyway, let me know if you still need a pick-up! We live in Somerville, MA around Porter Square.
Haha, combination of insomnia and a crazy job keeps me up late some nights, can’t remember which one it was that night. Anyway, thanks so much for the offer but I was able to arrange a pickup with a friend. I may ask again in the future though!

When do they pick up the boxes for the people that didn’t get to the pick-up by 5pm at Framingham?
Here is a message I received from the member who organized the after hours ‘sweep’:
– I have folks lined up to check for left-over boxes now through the end of August, and should be able to keep going the rest of the season — we won’t “glean” until 8 p.m. or later, though! Anything we find will go to the Framingham Hope Food Pantry on Concord St. http://www.hopeww.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=871 or possibly Pathways Family Shelter on Edgell Road (working out details on that). If anyone else wants to volunteer for gleaning I might need some back-up folks later, they can email me (memmottm@gmail.com) . Or if anyone knows other good places to donate, happy to hear about it. FYI — the Hope Food Pantry is open Wednesday’s and Saturday’s 9-12, and they will also take donations from your gardens if you have extra produce (if you bring when they are open and have time to distribute to clients.) And of course they are always looking for donations of non-perishable items as well. I know all the pantries in Framingham are feeling a very high need now — summer is a tough time for pantries long after the holiday and school can drives run out!
Hi, Everyone,
I am a member and pick up at Southboro. I will be gone next week (the pickup on the 8th) and won’t be able to get my box. If someone would like to have it, please do so! Please just reply so it’s clear who’s getting it. It will be under the name Fleming.
Hiya! I’m a member who picks up at Brookline… and was wondering if anyone over there could do me an ENORMOUS favor and pick up my box this Sunday (Aug 7th)? It’s under the name “Clancy, Caitlin”. I can grab it later that evening (or whenever it’s convenient for you)… I’ll be returning to Boston from Vermont that day and don’t know if I’ll make it back in time for the pick-up window. My email is caitlin.clancy@gmail.com and my cell number is 610.952.8535 if you need to reach me. Of course, I will happily return the favor in the future, if ever necessary!
Thanks SO much!
